KC's Escape! (2017)

Designed and programmed by Ed Averett, K.C.Munchkin, and its sequel K.C's Krazy Chase are among the most beloved titles released for the Videopac and Odyssey2 videogame system. So 35 Years after the release of the last K.C.Munchkin game, GoodDealGames in cooperation with Ed Averett and myself decided to develop and release the third game in the series: K.C's Escape!

I got to work on this project with Ed Averett and Michael from GoodDealGames and we were able to create a third entry to this great series on the Odyssey2 and Videopac consoles, which ofcourse was an honor to do. The game was released at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo (PRGE) in 2017. Even better, Ed Averett himself was at the Good Deal Games booth signing autographs and playing the game on Saturday during the show.

A few weeks after the release of the game i received this wonderful letter by Ed Averett who really liked how the game turned out. You can read the letter here if you are interested.

Dino Dash (2015)

Can't connect to the internet

When my previous laptop was stolen back in august 2015, i lost quite a bit of work and found myself configuring and installing a new laptop. During that time i ran into a fair share of connection problems. Luckily my Chrome browser has this awesome minigame that i enjoyed quite a lot. So much so that i wanted to play this game on my trusty old videopac/odyssey2 system.

Also, after putting all these extra features like splashscreens, titlescreen, internect connectivity, etc. in my games i wanted to create a very basic game in a small memory footprint again, and this game seemed like a good candidate.

I believe i have succeeded in bringing a faithful version of the game to the videopac and odyssey2 consoles. The greyscale palette really gives me that nostalgic vibe when playing it!

Game Features

- Playable on Videopac and Odyssey2 consoles
- Inspired by the Chrome easteregg game
- 1K memory footprint

Ralph Baer's Pinball (2013-2015)

Most people know Ralph H. Baer (1922-2014), often called the father of videogames, for his groundbreaking work on the development of the Magnavox Odyssey. Back in 1970's, Ralph Baer was involved in the development of software for the soon to be released Magnavox Odyssey2 system. Together with Don McGuinness he developed a prototype for a Pinball game. Unfortuanately this game never reached completion and wasn't brought to market.

Back in 2013 i got contacted to work on this project and help Ralph Baer encapsulate his original vision for the game. During the development of the game i got to work with Mr. Ralph Baer himself who communicated his original vision for the game and helped with all the major design decissions for the game. He got to see builds for the game (either via emulation or video) and gave his feedback where needed. He very much enjoyed the fact that people picked up this project and were able to help him create a product according to his original vision for the game.

The development of the game wasn't as smooth as i wanted it to be. Epecially after the passing of Mr. Baer i found it hard to continue work on the project for a while. It was also a challenge to get this game up and running on both the european Videopac systems as well as the Magnavox Odyssey2, but i am glad we were able to finish the game and we can be proud of the end result. I am glad i had the opportunity to work with a legend such as Mr. Baer, for which i am eternally grateful.

Game Features

- Developed in close cooperation with Ralph Baer to encapsulate his original vision for the game
- Single player and 2 player modes
- A selection of 4 different tables
- Improved graphics and physics
- Digitized sound using The Voice module
- Original prototype included
